PREGNANCY SUMMARY
Urea is an osmotic diuretic that is used primarily to treat cerebral edema. Topical formulations for skin disorders are also available. No reports of its use in pregnancy following IV, oral, or topical administration have been located. Urea, given by intra-amniotic injection, has been used for the induction of abortion (1).
BREASTFEEDING SUMMARY
No reports describing the use of urea during human lactation have been located.
